About Roaring River Park

Roaring River Park is located in Marion County, Oregon, along the course of the Roaring River, a tributary of the North Santiam River. The park features lush coniferous forests, rocky riverbanks, and cascading waterways that create dynamic natural scenery. Established to provide public access to the Roaring River and surrounding woodlands, the park covers a modest area of protected land embraced by the Willamette National Forest boundaries. Visitors enjoy an array of outdoor opportunities including fishing for native trout species, hiking through mixed fir and cedar stands, and picnicking at well-maintained facilities. The park is frequently visited by anglers during the trout season, while families explore calm river sections and small waterfalls. One of the key landmarks is the Roaring River Falls, a striking waterfall accessible via a short trail from the main parking area. The park’s location near Detroit Lake offers additional water-based recreation, making Roaring River Park a favored destination for both day visitors and campers. The surrounding landscape supports diverse wildlife, including black-tailed deer, various bird species, and occasional sightings of black bears. The park’s natural setting and relatively easy access from Oregon Route 22 make it a convenient nature retreat within the western Cascades.
